Tips for Good Health
....................................... Mindfulness is the state of being conscious and focusing on one’s awareness. Studies have demonstrated that mindfulness is associated with enhanced well-being and can lead to declines in mood disturbances and stress. | ....................................... Exercise can be a great way to de-stress and take your mind off of triggering thoughts. Studies show that regular exercise can be just as effective as antidepressants. Not only does exercise help with mood but it also increases energy. This is helpful since fatigue is a major symptom of depression. Exercise can range from going for runs, walks, yoga, spin class or even just dancing with your headphones in. | ....................................... Writing has been shown to help with symptoms of depression. Whether it’s a diary, a novel or just a rant every once in awhile, writing can help express your feelings and organize your thoughts. |

....................................... It’s difficult going through things alone: loneliness can actually trigger or worsen depression. But, if you create good support system, it can take some of the pressure off and help alleviate depressive thoughts. | ....................................... Asking for help is never easy, but often worth it. If you feel uncomfortable talking to a parent or friend, seek a healthcare professional, call a help line or give group therapy a try. |
